Illinois is a licence state. The Concealed Carry Licence is issued by the Illinois State Police, not by a county sheriff, and you must be 21, hold a FOID, finish 16 hours of training with an ISP-approved instructor and submit fingerprints. The fee is $150 for residents and $300 for non-residents from the handful of states Illinois treats as substantially similar, and the licence runs five years.
